Rosa: "Gunther, if you're not going to ask me out, I have other...options" Gunther: "Oh. Okay. That's good to know. I mean, not good, but... um.... I'll call you back" Gunther: "NOW what should I do?!" Knute: "Man, I don't KNOW! She wants you to ask her out or she'll date some lunk... it's impossible to know what to DO!!" Gunther: "I know! I'm-" Knute: "CALL her, you NUDNICK!!"
At least, at the moment, Knute has common sense and is in position to help Gunther navigate through the world of dating. Gunther is so petrified. As a poster said above, I wonder if he is beyond help? He seems TERRIFIED of the girl he likes. He is okay around Luann, the girl he THOUGHT he like-loved….obviously not because Luann doesn’t have this effect on Gunther. She is just a friend. Certainly after this episode with Rosa, Gunther will come to realize his feelings toward Luann is quite platonic.
