Rosa, why bother…Gunther seems to be beyond help.

Yeah, let Luann have him. And then he’ll find out she’s just as superficial as Tiffany.

At least, at the moment, Knute has common sense and is in position to help Gunther navigate through the world of dating. Gunther is so petrified. As a poster said above, I wonder if he is beyond help? He seems TERRIFIED of the girl he likes. He is okay around Luann, the girl he THOUGHT he like-loved….obviously not because Luann doesn’t have this effect on Gunther. She is just a friend. Certainly after this episode with Rosa, Gunther will come to realize his feelings toward Luann is quite platonic.

I have a nephew in law just like Gunther. His line for asking a woman out? “You wouldn’t want to go out with me tomorrow night, would you?” Needless to say, he’s 45 and still unattached.

Typical female……..always looking out for the next best thing.

Gunther! For the everlasting honor of your name, get off your duff and ask Rosa for a date! Or else cringe like a lonely wuss FOREVER!

When I first started reading Gunther was socially awkward but he actually showed potential and I never thought he was this pitiful. I really do love this strip, but right now I’m really just hoping for some good character development on Gunther’s part from this arc. The same could be said for Luann herself, she’s in a major rut story-wise.

Now Knute is making some sense.

Nope Gunther is doing exactly what I did. I had tickets to a concert, asked her what she was doing that night and ended up giving it to the girl telling her I won it. She said she would live to go, and I said I was busy.

I think more or less she has asked him out he is such a whoos that he probably pees his pants thinking about going on a date.

Nudnick, no, lamebrain, yes.

Oh, and I really, Really, REALLY HOPE that Rosa’s “other option” is Quill.Luann REALLY Needs a bit MORE Drama in Her Life.Again, IMHO….,

Honestly, I’ve about had it with Gunther. Develop or mature the character or write him out. Bah.

Rosa probably has tons of baggage and issues.

Gunther doesn’t know what to do about the pickle in his pocket every time he hears Rosa’s voice.

I think that Rosa knows if Gunther doesn’t do the asking out, he won’t respect himself or her for taking the lead. She is trying to help him in the kindest way. I know this this is just a comic strip but good job Mr. Evans

I see Rosa’s “other options” are leering at her from the table over her shoulder.

No time to read the comments just now… just a comment on the strip: “OH, the pressure, the PRESSURE! Gunther is going to have a stroke – get ready for CPR, Knute” Rosa is forcing his hand. My apologies, folks – she’s not being supportive – she’s demanding a decision. What a Problem!

Again: I don’t understand why Rosa isn’t capable of asking him out. Are we back in the 1940s or something?

Rosa wants Gunther to man-up and ask HER out. You have to admire a girl that has her principles.

We need Quill to ask Rosa for a date.

gunther takes “painfully shy” to new levels of pain. seriously are today’s teens really like this? even a shy guy with any intelligence (and gunther is really smart) would be able to figure out that rosa is not going to reject him.

I can totally relate to these two. They genuinely are confused about what to do next. Dating is like anything else, it’s a skill that even the most basic things have to be learned.

Rosa could change Gunther’s life forever with women.

totally off base… Billy Martin had this idea to use radios to transmit steal calls so the other team wouldn’t know… radios didn’t work, runner yelled to dugout “what?” and whole opposing team yelled “he wants you to steal”… based on yesterday’s strip, I’m sure Rosa can hear everything very well without the cell phones… love the strip….

The dark-haired guy in the back reminds me of Jim Carrey!

Does every guy in this comic strip have to be clueless? It’s like, only the women in this strip have a positive IQ! Way to portray your gender, Greg. That’s not to say most of the women in the strip aren’t superficial and self-centered. I wonder why Delta and Crystal aren’t best friends? Seems like they have a lot in common, intellectually. I wonder if Delta or Bernice will ever go on a date?

Nurturing and caregiving has its limits. No (sane) woman wants to date a big, helpless, ineffective baby.

@LinTX – adolescent girls usually are way ahead of adolescent boys in terms of maturity (my own HS experience bore this out), and so the clueless-boy-behavior we’ve been seeing is pretty normal by my lights. Would love to see the more together people in this strip (Delta, Bernice) going out, which could take this strip in a more serious direction that so far, Greg doesn’t seem that interested in or capable of pulling off. I like the lighteness of “Luann” but would LOVE to see something a bit more serious.

We really shouldn’t get on Gunther about being a Nudnik when Luanne is acting same way with the Aussie. Im just glad we aren’t seeing Tiff for a few days.

For all of you insisting that Rosa should ask him out: you are right! She can! But I know that I for one, am not attracted to a man I have to ask out. I want a man with a backbone and not a wishbone, so if a man can’t get up the gumption to ask me out, its time to move on. It usually shows a lack of a spine, and why woulda woman want a spineless man?

Please, let Rosa date a guy who is up to speed. Gunther is just not ready. Let’s get back to Brad, let him show some spine, quit Weeny World and land a job as an EMT.

Often when I read these comments, I imagine Greg thinking that. Because everybody seems to want him to make it mean something. Well, maybe what you see is what you get?? no more & no less??

That’s a nice little use of doublespeak , but it doesn’t change the fact that if you have to constantly baby, nudge and prompt the other person in a relationship to interact with you on an adult level, you become the mom – or dad – to an ineffective child. And it gets old, fast. It doesn’t matter why they can’t function in a relationship, but any relationship that’s a 90-10 split in effort is doomed from the outset.
