Does anyone else react as to how “science-fictiony” this whole scenario would have seemed only a very short while ago?I mean, not only is Luann videophoning to the other side of the planet, but she isn’t even plugged in! And she is using a display thinner than anything we saw on Star Trek, about as thin as those on 2001: A Space Odyssey.And even I was talking with a dear friend this way last weekend in a very sweet and private discussion conducted from opposite sides of the planet. For free.Love it.

Morning all…am I remembering correctly that Luann sent off a rather romantic letter to Quill pretty much stating her feelings? It takes some time for mail to make it Down Under so I understand that he is only now responding. Maybe he will come back. Why else start up.

Are we really, really sure Quill is in Australia at this very moment? Or might he be back in the States, ready to START almost at once?—Whatever the case, this does look like a moment full of promise for a grown-up relationship for Luann!

Lu and Quill get together, sparks fly, they set a date and presto, Toni starts thinking she’d better start getting serious about her relationship with Brad……

I know indeed. One of the reasons I started selling computers in the early 1980s was for the fascination as to how they would evolve into the things I read about in the 1960s.Most science fiction writers got it wrong, their imaginations were way too limited.

I’m getting married next month after over 3 years in a long distance relationship.. (5 if you count how long I’ve know the girl.) Plus we have a different language.. We met when I was in her country for a year, I’ve been back several times. hopefully it shows luann and quill going the distance. it’s tough but not impossible.

some movies of long distance relationship are pretty good. like going the distance, sleepless in seattle, the time travelers wife, lake house.

If he’s moving to the States, fine, if he’s staying in Australia, then just be friends, Luann

I seem to recall they went most of the way not only to starting it, but to consummating it. Now wee see that Quill didn’t think he had a relationship with her at that point. She’d better think twice about him.

@Goodheart — the letter was returned for insufficient postage. He never got the letter. This is all on Quill.

Remember that Greg decided that he’d better shape up and devote more energy to the strip right after he got so much flak from his readers about the Luann/Quill breakup due to his father’s posthaste return to Australia. So this is the romance resumption/startup – not the termination.

As someone mentioned, webcams can do a lot, and my lover also recommended the best lighting (the daylight version of the high efficiency bulb works the best). I still hope to be with him more than 2 months of the year, but one trip is very near ;-D

Wonder if later in the future people will be able to get intimate in a long range relationship”^^^The technology already exists, they have a kind of love doll sort of thing that conects to the net and whatever you touch on the doll on your end, the other person feels and vice versa; it could be years before it becomes affordable, at the moment it’s still in the labratory stage; I wonder though, would the churches of the World allow this to be legal? (Despite the fact that it would represent the ultimate in safe sex)< Saw this on the show “Sex” , on Showcase
