OK – We’re silly for a while. It’s just that….sometimes….“Luann” is so good…..

Are we sure Luann isn’t in preschool anymore? Preschoolers just love to overdo the glitter.

Oh, and nice perfume, Tiffany. Must you marinade everything in it, though?

Delta the community organizer, sounds like presidential cridentials to me. Looks like the Captain has his hand back reaching for Delta’s butt.

1) See, Ox is given something to do other than carry boxes— and he’s proud of it! Remember back this fall when he was so needy to be friends with Gunther? Now he has them!*2) The real work— and the interest/reward— will come with delivering the baskets. Will the offerings be rejected as some say, or will they be graciously accepted? Will the teens do the REAL work and stay to converse with the seniors— hear their stories and share something from their own lives?*3) 200 baskets/10 cars = 20 baskets per driver. This won’t leave much time for a personal conversation. Thank heavens Tiff is adding her personal scent now. (Also, this means 200 cards/4 = 50 cards per teen.)

*4) I’m looking for a twist tomorrow or Thursday.

There were a lot of people commenting yesterday that the candy baskets weren’t actually a good idea for most nursing home residents. That is actually the case; if you ask, you’ll find that recommended gifts include things like large print crossword puzzle books and magazines, small bulletin boards with pictures of people and places they love, or offers to come and read to them. But one thing everyone recommends — no heavy perfumes! An overly scented card will make people sick.

Some folks still don’t seem to realize that Delta already did all the heavy lifting for this to happen.

Some people DO go into politics hoping to make a difference. Then they run into those who question their motives, accuse them of being tokens, call them “do-gooders”, and belittle their efforts.-And when the ones who hoped to make a difference realize most people don’t give diddly-squat about anyone else, they lose heart, and give up. Then they’re called quitters.-I read Luanne because the strip generally has an upbeat message, and a good variety of characters. What’s wrong with Delta, Luanne, Ox, and all the rest of the characters wanting to do something nice?

Out of the four of them, the football guy seems to have the best card. Tiffany doesn’t have any talent short of spraying them with sickening perfume. Luann and Brad are at least trying.

I teach high school art and even the older students LOVE glitter…a lot! My room is always sparkly!

That’s if you ask do-gooders. But if you ask the seniors themselves, you’ll find the recommended gifts include bourbon, gin, vodka, strippers, tequila, cigars, …
