Fire fighter 2: "Yeah! Hitch these two, Cap'n!"
Captain: "Ok. I now pronounce you etc, etc. You may kiss the bride!"
Toni: "Perfect!"
Brad: "Wait. That wasn't for real, was it? Was that for real?"

It doesn’t seem real to me. Why not just go to a court judge? He has authorization.

Now the greatest thing will be ending the arc right here, and moving to completely different topic on Monday. Just as long as it’s not Gunther screaming at his mother…

I’m not familiar with fire houses, do they dress like that, with ties? Doesn’t look very “action ready.”

For real? You’ll find out tonight.

An ordained minister or court judge and it will be real.

What do you think, Brad? What do you want? What does Toni want, hummm? It may not be legal, but it sure sends a signal. Toni is ready to get married, now. Don’t miss this opportunity, Brad my lad….

No, Brad it wasn’t “Real.”
Because Ann Eiffel Didn’t LOUDLY Show Up to Stringently OBJECT to You Two Being Man and/or Wife.
TORAD_07 almost 10 years ago
wouldn’t it be funny if they found out they accidentally got married for real ?
Did they get their license yet? If not, then I can’t see it being “for real.” Unless, of course, it’s a “Greg Evans Magical Deus ex Machina” license that appears out of thin air… when needed… ;-PPP

> So in case you are unaware that Brad has made absolutely no inquiries into how you get legally married in California, this comic strip spells it out clearly.>Yep, Brad is absolutely clueless. (His taking Toni to all those completely inappropriate wedding venues last week shows that he’s clueless about a lot of things, including how to use the Internet.) Have they even taken out a marriage license? Since Toni has been trying to postpone the wedding for as long as possible, telling Brad that they’re officially married now will let her simply avoid it altogether.
seismic-2 Premium Member almost 10 years ago
The big surprise will turn out to be that the Captain is in fact an ordained minister from some mail-order church, so he can perform wedding ceremonies.
jrankin1959 almost 10 years ago
Wait – don’t they have to be on the truck to make it count? ;-)

It’s isn’t a real wedding if it not before God.

Nonsense.

How is it that the captain wears the single bar of a lieutenant on his collar? And no, Brad, it’s not for real. But I bet you get lucky tonight anyway.
edge2edge almost 10 years ago
Hmmm, is that a likeness of Greg leaning against the counter in this strip?
GOGOPOWERANGERS almost 10 years ago
Looks more like the bride’s doing the kissing.- or brads the bride since toni proposed

What I really want to know is how the coyote can get up and reload to continue trying to catch the roadrunner after taking an anvil to the head but Toni can’t marry Brad in a 2 second ceremony in 2-D?
dre7861 almost 10 years ago
I love the political irony to this in that the gay Captain (remember he took Tony to some Fireman’s Ball) is marrying the straight couple.
birdface almost 10 years ago
So it looks like “real” or not, Toni and Brad were “married” in the Firehouse :-)

Brad sounds like he is getting nervous. Have they even gotten their marriage license yet? They seem to be taking it overly slow.

is Brad happy? or is he having second thoughts!

In California a popular way to get married is in the County Clerks office. They give you the license and they can marry you. Bring some friends and flowers and go for it. Some of the work I did was done in the old Orange County court house and I saw lots of weddings. The staff always seemed to enjoy doing them.
Brown Leghorn almost 10 years ago
As Brad gets older they should draw him with a more distinguished handsome featured face. As of now he is neither ugly or attractive!
wiselad almost 10 years ago
why you want what the captain’s friend want? what Tony wants is irrelevant, we want what Toni wants

As usual must only speak kindly about the comic or you’re not supposed to comment at all.

My first two weddings were by a JP with no guests or frills (widowed by both), and the wonderful woman I’m married to now was in a church and with family and friends. Was better in the church by far.

In most states it is illegal to perform a wedding without a license. In Missouri where I was a minister for 12 years, it is a $500 fine. I always tell couples I want either a license or $500 cash in my hand before the wedding takes place. They have always chosen the license. It has been proposed in Oklahoma that ministers/churches be in charge of issuing licenses, which is the opposite of what many ministers, including myself, would like to see. I would prefer to see us go to what is done in most of the world. Marriage is a civil matter, done in the courthouse, and then if a couple wants the religious service, that is a separate event. I’d just as soon stop doing weddings for couples who really don’t take the religious aspect seriously, but just want the big fancy church wedding as a spectacle after they have already been living together for 10 years and have 3 kids.
holmswedeholm almost 10 years ago
Probably not so much legal in another sense anyway. He said “…pronounce etc. etc.” which does not express ANY pronouncement at all.
wiselad almost 10 years ago
criticism of direction and criticism of an error made are 2 different things ………….. it is fair to post about difference between naturist and naturism ……….. or about fact that in a Saturday strip a car was blue but in the next Monday strip same car was put as green, but not about direction of the characters …………… if Greg wants Bern to end up with Pyro, it is his decision, if he wants Gunther to end up in about one year with sun, it is his decision, we have no right to demand that Gunther ends up with Bern or Tiff, or say that Gunther with Sun is a mistake, we can say “I don’t like it” but not see it as a total error of his part, it is his choice of direction

yesterday I saw the newest episode of Disney channel show “lab rats” and thought it was stupid that the main guys took an antagonistic approach to the “bad guys” instead of being truthful and explaining to them why it was to their better advantage to see that their powers creator was a selfish guy who did not have their best interest in mind ……………. but that is what their writers decided to go with
Jim Kerner almost 10 years ago
What? No C3PO?
wiselad almost 10 years ago
outside appearance wise, Gunther has changed (both Tiff and Bern found that interesting, in a lesser degree Crystal too, while Luann was more like “I guess he changed physically” ) but he is beginning to change as a person, has not changed YET

I’ll have to pay more attention to our firemen’ dress code next time I see them grocery shopping with their truck parked outside. I am not very observant and could never be a detective.

Actually, if the toaster is likely to cause maiming or death, then it’s exactly the sort of appliance that Dick Tracy would own!

If they use the fire station for the wedding and reception that would be something I have seen a few times. Now if the fire dept has a chaplain who is a ordained minister that would be a another plus for them.
