No use, Brad. The women have just spoken the “secret word”, a phrase in their “language”, to signal their “meeting” will now commence. At this point, in this one moment, you are only the “fly on the wall”.

Fantastic, I have been waiting for this ever since Brad (Bwad) and Toni got engaged. I suppose the only issue for Brad (Bwad) as to the wedding party is who is his best man…it has to be TJ his best friend. That will be very interesting. And I want to reiterate something I realized yesterday responding to a fellow Luann blogger: 9/11/16 is a Sunday, so this will be one of those rare arcs that probably will have an all panel view of the marriage, and all the people in Luannverse (except Ann Eiffle of course). Congratulations, to my characters!

5While I still worry a bit about the selection of the 9-11 date, I will hope and assume that Greg has a good plan in mind for making this specific selection work out well (and respectfully) in the end.In regards to Luann’s toothy expression in the last two panels…. in looking at it in one way, it seems a little forced looking…. which would suggest some sort of “conflict”…. but I do not sense any conflict in the dialogue, so I will assume it is just an accidental aspect of the way she was drawn today.Earlier some people today were suggesting this means that Luann will not be wearing a “hideous” bridesmaid dress…. I don’t know about that…. the possibility is still ripe with comedic potential… I would anticipate that the will be at LEAST a few panels where Luann tries on some arguably hideous gowns. Perhaps in the end, she will have something really beautiful… but there is no way I would think the opportunity for a few horrible dress comedic arcs would be ignored by Greg.

“I want you to be my maid of honor Luann”*So, in reciprocity, to bind the families, will Brad ask Josh (or whatever his name is) to be best man? If so, he better also have someone set in case Josh doesn’t show up.*And I’m still betting something awful is going to happen to one of them before the wedding.

The 9/11 of 2016 (aka Patriots’ Day) will be a Sunday; the 15th Anniversary of the Tragedy itself! And, who knows? Maybe they’ll even go to the very site of Brad’s inspiration: the New One World Trade Center itself (and the surrounding memorial) for their Honeymoon; how fitting!

If you still pushing your bad taste, here are some recommendations: go to Indonesia for your honeymoon (make it coincide with Christmas) and ask the locals when will the next big wave hits, since you really want to surf it. Then fly to Madrid and take the subway in Atocha Station and take some funny selfies. Finally, you can end your tour in Somalia, doing a picnic with fabulous food and drinks, while the starving kids looks. Jeez…

I think it’s possible that Frank may be called upon to “give away the bride”. I know that it would seem “out of whack”, as “you’d be giving away the bride to your own son”, but Besides Jonah and Shannon, Toni has no one else for this… unless some new relative comes “popping in”, though it’d have to be someone that rates high in her book…

Ten days ago, did anyone here go to their local fire station and tell all the firefighters, “Happy 9/11, everyone!” I suspect the reaction would not have been celebratory.

So, no one even questioned their choice of date? I suppose when they go to the fire station to break the news, everyone will congratulate them on the decision and talk about how honored all the people killed on 9/11 would be that they chose that date to get married?

You might be able to make a case for getting married on 9/11. I think it would be hard, but maybe you could, since the events were the inspiration for Brad to become a fireman and led to his meeting Toni. But to pretend that it is not a controversial choice and just have everyone ignore the issues is pathetic.

Now that we know Brad’s exultant “It’s Nine-Eleven” on Saturday wasn’t some play on words, I’m disappointed they are planning a wedding celebration for that date. If they want to have a quiet, tasteful church or civil marriage ceremony that also somehow honors those who died, then fine. I just don’t see how a wedding celebration (by today’s standards) can do that. I hope they find a way.

In that regard, perhaps some of the week prior can be the final moments leading up to the ceremony, the crazy hours of preparation the night or two before, and honored guests and relatives flying in, etc., with Saturday being a “sneaky tease” of the moments before Toni walks down the aisle….

Brad says the wedding will be “September 11, 2016.”

That means it must be planned for a day fifteen years after the attack and when Brad is 33 or 34.

Even in the Luanniverse, “September 11, 2016” can only mean “September 11, 2016” .The option is to imagine that the attack was in 2013 or so.
