Piro is the silent type, hence “mime.” Piro likes movies (silent ones, to boot) hence “ticket stub.” Bernice likes Piro, hence “Heart.” Makes perfect sense if you’re besotted as Bernice is…

Okay, then. Let’s see what happens. Maybe we’ll at least find out whether Piro is a student or not.Who wants to predict that their date (if it even happens) will be interrupted by Gunther, having what Inspector Clousseau called “a rit of fealous jage”?

Well, I guess Bernices’ skepticism is a mile wide and a quarter inch deep. I her defense, the was incredibly spot on, considering her current obsession with Piro. Only in the Luann Universe…..

I don’t think Piro is the dating type.

A good example of a case where it is better to split the preposition. “Ask Piro out,” sounds (and reads) much more natural than “Ask out Piro.”

So, the second ref can probably be discounted. I have no idea about the first, and neither does Steve.

once again some people choose to denigrate a series of installments because the setup is slow, forgetting that there are 3-4 panels maximum per day. These represent often mere moments in a conversation, not days as in real life. I personally believe that some of those related posts are there just to grab attention, so I will address some. because NO ONE IS AS SELF SERVING AS ME ;-)

Argy2, was it at a level that coukd just be slow waking? That was what i remembered. People vary in how fast they wake. Two things currently considered to be possible cause are1. Some people have their body temps rise from the lower sleep temp more slowly2. There are three electrolytes whose balance in brain fluids has been found to change between sleeping and waking (very recently published work that i ran into this week) and people can vary on how efficiently they do that. In fact, that work may have found the cause for post anesthesia confusion because in that state all three electrolytes wind up at high levels, so the brain is sort of asleep and awake at the same time.

Reply is down. One other thing in the brain electrolyte balance shifts btwn sleep and waking: the control is endocrinological per the study rather than affected by neurons. That should please someone here!

I will refrain from commenting on other comments although there are many I could. The use of the tokens as a way to determine fate is to me a plot device. Bernice the reserved, snarky (okay I agree she is snarky) boyfriend starved young woman who has suddenly fallen hard for this mysterious Piro guy; he is the opposite of what those who do not understand the concept of opposites being attracted (I say being attracted because at the moment there seems to be only thin evidence that Piro is atrracted (my bet is that he is very attracted to Bernice, but is shy in his own way) to each other. So the drama awaits. This strip views relationships from a female gender stasis point I think; after all it is based on Luann, and her friends. Longing, belonging, attractiveness. confidence, growth, all those things are part of the story. Luannfar1212 out!!

It woukd be interesting if bernice winds up with a boyfriend while luann is single. For a temporary role reversal. Bernice’s grades might initially suffer as she struggles to achieve balance in becoming well rounded. I could see luann becoming more career focused as she cultuvates some of the raw talents she has displayed.

The commenters who see a potential lesbian relationship in every pair of females in Luann seem emotionally and sexually damaged to me. It may be a symptom of too much porn-viewing. One theory is that by being obsessed with lesbians, a male can avoid a mature heterosexual relationship, which is too intimidating. The same can happen to women who go exclusively with male friends to gay bars.

Bernie likes being in control of her life and her destiny thus the ‘destiny deck’ scares her. Luann on the other hand would rather let events determine her course of action. She can’t decide her goals or interests. She wants something or someone to do it for her. So Luann likes the destiny deck. The destiny deck told her that she needed to find her path in life. That was not enough. She wanted the destiny deck to tell her how and exactly what to do. The destiny deck brings out their differences.

Now…. what is Dez’s destiny? What is her course in life? We still don’t know. I suspect she cannot operate the deck on herself. Will Bern or Luann deal some cards for her? Dez is still very much an unknown.

I know Kymberleigh will not appreciate this, but it is all fun.

I like having a strip historian on call. I just get an overall impression that the strip is all about great dreams doomed to failure and disappointment. Using history as a research source, I think that a psychological study of Greg’s outlook on happiness would be more appropriate.
