It’s not drinking, and it’s not smoking. It’s raising children that will age you faster than anything.

Normally the joke is that daughters will give you gray hair, but all things considered, wrinkles are a better choice for Frank.

Call Brad and/or Toni. Although considering where they work, that might be what she was suggesting, although most stations do have non emergency phones.

Most Presidents don’t age that bad the first term but that second term that they really aged.

So much for her boast to Jack that she picked up some auto mechanic skills from watching Brad. That expertise disappeared as quickly and without notice as it arrived.

Is this the first time you have started it since you changed the oil and filter yourself? After all, you did mention to Jack that you knew how.

So I think the Tiffany & Mrs. Fogarty arc ended Saturday – where Tiffany experiences a revelation, and then darts back to her comfort zone for a little relief. For Monday, I would most like to see Ann working Tom on his yacht. A return to the guest house with Gunther & Les might be a little depressing.

Luann Againn is really funny today. Timed perfectly as a follow up to Tiffany’s sessions…

Weren’t we just discussing how Luann had begun to show some maturity? This strip is probably realistic, though – many young adults (not to mention older ones) revert to childhood patterns in the presence of their parents. The problem here is not so much that she went to her parents, but her histrionic reaction.

Is this an act or is Luann seriously panicking?

Good call Nancy. U still have Luann around, so Frank’ll keep getting wrinkles until she’s someone else’s problem. Stat!

Teenagers are also parent-agers

A little bit of role switching here. Guys are often shown as being car-obsessed and gals are shown as fretting about about their looks.

Frank has long since stopped worrying about going gray, the troops are decimated and have retreated.

In reality, though, Greg has a pretty dense mop. But he knows about daughters, do the math.

What color is the smoke?

Blue smoke – it’s a clear sign that the engine is burning oil. What happens is that the valve guide seals or piston rings are worn out, and oil is leaking past from where it should be lubricating the moving parts, to the combustion chamber where it’s being burned up with the fuel.

Gray smoke is hard to diagnose directly.

White smoke can be nothing to be concerned about if it’s thin, like vapor. However, thicker smoke is a big problem, and can be caused the engine burning coolant. This can be the result of a serious issue like a blown head gasket, a damaged cylinder head, or a cracked engine block – all of which are costly repairs.

Black exhaust smoke means the engine is burning too much fuel. The first thing you should check is your air-filter and other intake components like sensors, fuel injectors and the fuel-pressure regulator.

Fans of a certain beloved nerdy character in this Strip have a LOT of them…….,

Brad, and, Toni to Luann, after they look over her car. “You know those extra hours you are putting in at the library, and, that money you’re getting for mentoring Fay? Guess where it’s going?”

Mom used to say that each gray hair represents a day of motherhood.

Uh, guys? Luann’s car is on fire. Maybe you might want to check on that perhaps.

I agree with Sylvia Plath’s take on wrinkles, as “lines hacked into my face.” Given the various ins and outs, tasks and pains of life in general.

This is a funny Sunday foible panel, and I can relate, having kind of high maintenance daughter myself. She has gotten better in her early 30s but I still take a deep breath sometimes when she calls or texts me “Dad”. I lost my hair, but don’t blame my kids for that, and I don’t wrinkle too much, but once a parent, always a parent. Does not mean you live their lives, but you love them, worry about them, but let them live their lives. In this case Luann is growing, and becoming more mature, but she is still at home, only being 19 or so, and still relies a lot on her parents. Frank is a great dad though, as Nancy is a wonderful mom.

Wrinkles are like insanity. Hereditary, you get them from your kids.

Of course, all of us here have the right to opinions. So I will now avail myself of that right. Regarding how realistically all characters other than Luann act: Frank and Nancy, the adults in this ‘toon, invested a lot of money in creating a business they know nothing about, and when some guy named ’Mr. Gray’ who they’ve never dealt with before shows up to run things, they just accept it. I didn’t bother asking the business owners in my family how unrealistic that behavior is, because I can figure that out. If any of them had done those things, they’d be broke.

For more ‘realism’, we only need to look at how Bernice acted about Piro. Or, for that matter, how counselor Mrs. Fogerty responded to Tiffany’s breakthrough.

Luann is not the only ‘unrealistic’ , ’toon-like character in a cast of realistic people. And as someone who has a cousin who is high functioning on the autism spectrum, I will further use my right to my opinion and say that there is nothing funny at all about comparing a ’toon character to someone saddled with this sad medical condition.

Okay I gotta say this. Those of you that said how your kids give grey hair, and wrinkles and etc?

You’re talking about the “bad” part of being a parent. But how about the good times when:

1) You beam with pride when your child wins the spelling bee?

2) Or when your child graduates college and you take that group family photo of her in her cap and gown holding that diploma?

3) Or when you see your son take his bride?

4) Or when your children present you with your first grandchild?

You forget all about those wrinkles then.

Remember: A broad smile straightens many a wrinkle.

Be thankful you have kids. Not everyone is so blessed……,

There’s a good chance the muffler bearings are shot.

After reading the comments to this strip, I’m rather glad I’m childless. (I daresay, so is the world at large, only they don’t know it.)

Luann! Wrinkling Frank and Nancy for at least 19 years! What an efficient product she is, too!

Probably most people here know it, but I want to point out anyway: One should NEVER call 911 for any emergency other than to a human being. Certainly not a car problem, no matter how severe. Now I know this is a comic, and I think perhaps it would be good to call 911 and ask for the fire department to put out a car fire, but as someone stated above, no fire is mentioned, just smoke. Luann is saying to call 911 just to point out how frightened and desperate she is about the situation. I just encourage us all to think before we call 911 – I certainly recommend it when a human being is in danger or very ill or you just don’t know for sure what is wrong. Or if you see a fire, in a car, a house, or anywhere else. For anything else – never! Please do not tie up a line and a dispatcher with things that are not a legitimate human emergency, possibly delaying a call for a true emergency.

Speaking of wrinkles reminds me of a story a friend a few years older than me experienced. She had started getting some pretty substantial wrinkles. One day her young granddaughter, about 5 years old, asked her, “Grandma, do those cuts in your face hurt?”

If it smokes when you’re driving it, that’s not a 911 call. If it’s smoking when it’s parked that might qualify.
