Agreed, TJ. Let’s see you walk over and fire her on the spot. Or give her a choice – switch with Les or be fired. She needs to be in the back where she could not interact with people. BUT I wouldn’t be surprised even in the back, she would create a situation where she manages to get into the front.
Maybe Tiffany will forget she’s supposed to be working and leave with Luann’s date…then Luann and Jack will share a cheeseburger consolation prize! Hmm…
The fact that her date’s face isn’t being shown kinda prevents us from being too emotionally invested in these events. Clearly it’s not going to work out, so who cares about the minutiae?
So now Jack, Tiffany and TJ are watching Luann and Doug…only one by agreement and that agreement only with Luann…The Fuse is definitely becoming The Place to never take a first date.
@All that think Tiff will or should be fired. I think Greg will milk this Tiffany-as-Waitress schtick for awhile. It has some comedic potential yet to be played out. We’ve yet to see her with real customers. We’ve yet to see how her tips scheme will work out with Les-the-Dishwasher. We’ve yet to see her having to actually wait tables for some other strip characters: Luann and Dougie? Luann and Jack? Bernice and Dez from school? Al and Irma from The Dinner with Gunther and Les? Tom and Ann??? All with comedic interest.
Plus there’s still the overarching arc of Tiffany seeking independence.
TJ “chilling” with Jack was an unexpected turn of events…. I was anticipating TJ trying to get him to vamoose.
Other comments:
1. Tiffany blocking the view is not really such a “horror” here…. I mean, it is not like Jack nor TJ need to have an instantaneous response even if Luann signals a signal that she wants an excuse to leave. Because, I mean…. seriously it is not truly “life-or-death” but instead it is a situation where Jack (and now TJ) may help Luann more conveniently vacate a date she could vacate on her own if needed.
2. I suspect that TJ will not fire Tiffany over this…. because, hell, she is as much a “bud” these days for Luann as TJ is. So, from my perspective, TJ is doing the same thing Tiffany was/is….. trying to help Luann out.
3. Now, Tiffany also had wanted Jack’s attention initially…. BUT IMO she changed when she sat down to more of a mode to “help” Luann.
4. Will Jack ever get his cheesburger? And if so, what will he put on it? For me, the toppings are the key. I have occasionally gone to a “fancy” burger joint with friends, the kind of place where they have 50 or more toppings available, and it is an interesting dichotomy. I have a few friends who will order one of these “fancy” burgers and then have absolutely NOTHING on them… often not even the cheese…. just the beef and the bun. My wife is a “traditionalist” and gets the usual array…. ketchup, mustard, onion, pickle. I tend to coax the waitress to have mine piled with as many of the 50+ ingredients as possible…. usually ends up being about 15 items or so before they say it would topple over.
* * *
I do like that Jack used the word “recon” (short for reconnaissance). I am not sure if a lot of young college kids would typically USE that word…. to me it helps to establish further that Jack is no dummy.
Mood of the day: dull. Do the dark colors reflect the mood, or do they cause it. Bottom line is that two guys together, Jack and TJ, Les and Gunther, TJ and Brad, lack the spark that the females add to the strip.
Luann might want to bail since it looked like she tugged on her ear. It sounds like Tiffany is about to flirt with Doug. She always wants the one Luann is with. This time Luann might be happy that Tiffany came along so she can bail and leave Tiffany with Doug. We shall see.
I love how Luann doesn’t even consider they Doug might notice the meathead sitting 15 feet away from them and eyeballing them the entire time before swooping in to snatch up his date. I guess she just assumes that everyone is an unobservant as her.
Plus this sitcom-style plan is rooted in the days before everyone had a cell phone, as there’s no reason for him to come rushing in to take her away using a made-up story that couldn’t have been done faster and simpler by just texting/calling her.
Overall, this entire storyarc is what TV Tropes calls an Idiot Plot.
Tiffany oozes over to Luann’s table, smiles at Doug, and asks if she can get him anything. Doug answers, “Your phone number”, and Luann gets up, stomps over to Jack, sits on his lap, and plants a Chickweed Lane style kiss on him. Jack suddenly requires oxygen, and heads for the door. TJ signals the artist. “Next arc please. Jack needs the EMS.”
This is going from a Threat Level Yellow (or DefCon 3) all the way up to Threat Level Red (DefCon 1). TJ is like a detonator added to an explosive mix. Kafe Kablooie, indeed!

Okay. I’m ready for Shannon, Fay, just about anyone else about now.
But not Les. No. Not ready for him.
Maybe ever.

Thursday’s hilarity. There are 5 people in this scenario, one we have not seen. The uncertain variable is Tiffany Ferrell. What could go wrong/right?

TJ sitting down with Jack to help watch Luann’s date. Did anybody predict that? This is how things sort out in comic land.

“Is it Doug, yet?”
And note that Jack isn’t getting any better “service” from the Manager Of Kafe Kablooie, Old Smiley.
Les should relax. He’ll back waiting tables by the end of this arc. Too bad about his “Tiffany Tip Money,” Though….., ;)
