If Jack and Luann were going to be together, that would’ve already happened.

The dream continues. I’m surprised. But dealing with Ben is no closer to happpening than ever.

Luann needs to leave Bernice dream. She and Jack never did happened for a reason.

Guess the old thin wall is going to be a running gag.

Now, still asleep, Bernice awakes Luann.

Now Luann can ruin Bernice’s wakeful hours, the same way she already ruined Bernice’s dream.

(Yes, yes, I know that it’s all in Bernice’s imagination. But explaining this to Luann – assuming she remembers the dream – and is the least bit truthful about it…)

The wall between the two bedrooms is soooo thin.

Obviously, when Brad was there, nothing like this ever happened.

Nothing.

Ever.

And a fantasy dream becomes real life.

Does Bernice not know that Luann was too frightened to look at Jack when he was nekkid? I don’t think she’s a threat. But then Bernice would be too frightened to see him nekkid as well. Of course Bernice can’t experience romance, even in a dream. Weird!

Bern didn’t say “Jack” out loud – so Lu doesn’t really know what this is about.

(No rhyme or pun intended) Sorry bernice but the “grammar police” within you ruined the romantic moment. Looks like Luann is gonna get your man.

Love the segue to a possible lust conflict about the object of desire, merman Jack, and Bernice and Luann, but it’s just a dream. But story arc dreams are never just a dream, so stay tuned.

Never involve your friends in your fantasy life.

Poor Bernice. I’m starting to feel very sorry for this girl. Her fantasy life is bleeding over into her aware life. Maybe Mordy’s BFF mortal combat scenario will come to fruition.

Bernice is lucid dreaming. She can make Luann disappear. There must be a conflict in Bernice’s mind.

I don’t see Bernice changing. She’s very rigid, and always has been with a few tics here and there. Never lasted long. She has always insulted Luann, who lets it roll off her back. Yes, Bernice irritates me. She needs to loosen her gusset and whalebones!

I don’t know how much Bernice is paying to live in the DeGroot’s house, but Luann is living rent-free in her head.

I know reading the book started her quandry, but Bernice must dream in print, because you can’t hear the difference between “your” and “you’re” when spoken.

Either Bernice is really loud or those walls are really thin.

Bernice needs to tell Luann about her feelings for Jack. Might be a fun week… watching the girls talk about him.

Looks like Luann is going to get some of that “wall chat” she was longing for when Bernice moved in.

I feel that Bernice’s long-awaited Confidences to Luann about her family/sentimental problems is finally about to happen. So sweet seeing that Monstro is next to Bernice even in her dream♡. And looks what a beautiful tail Mermaid-Luann has ♡♡♡! I just wonder if Bernice talks in her sleep normally or if it only happens during extremely sad dreams.

Those clam shells gotta hurt.

Should re-name this comic “Bernice”

This is where Bernice screams out “EFF YOU LUANN!!” in her sleep..

Bernice is positioned in conflict with two male figures currently. Her relationship with Jack is progressing much like her relationship with Piro; which ultimately turned out to be pretty sterile on her part; platonic on his. On 7 Dec 2015 RA Bernice had a (surprise) dream sequence involving gifts of clothing from Piro; including his scarf, multiple earrings and [his] boxer sh[orts] before she awoke with a self-admonition. She was conflicted in the relationship because her infatuation with Piro was inducing behaviors that were antithetical to her rigorous dorm RA persona. She was in a bit of real conflict with Tiffany for Piro’s favors. In fact, she tried to make Gunther jealous of Tiffany’s interest in Piro. Piro was a rather sterile, asexual character. He didn’t express interest in girls other than as providing someplace to “crash” for the night.

With Jack she has a dream sequence involving no clothing and earlier she a received a real rather than dream gift from him. She also is in a perceived conflict with Luann for Jack’s interest similar to Piro and Tiff. Jack exudes masculinity; as opposed to Piro. Jack is equally stand offish re Bernice as was Piro. While Piro was mysterious and aloof, Jack is up front and physical. What you see is what you get and there is plenty of him. Piro always wore a long overcoat and scarf. Jack doesn’t hide much… especially in life art class.

Her second male related conflict is with her brother Ben. But its nature is still unrevealed. Just what is her inner turmoil all about? It could be jealousy over the perceived preference in treatment shown to him by her parents. It could relate to jealousy arising from his preference for communicating with Luann while stationed overseas. In either it could be latent guilt over the jealous feelings.

So, the questions remain. What is the nature of her conflict with Brer Ben! Will Bernice’s infatuation fizzle as occurred with Piro or will it crash and burn in flames as with ZackOR wil

The dream reveals more then just a desire for mer-nookie with Jack. She doesn’t see Luann as a friend, but rather a rival. That would explain why she treats her “best friend” so badly.

I guess Puddles is the ‘Flounder’ here!! :)

Naturally. In fact, reminds me of the old-time radio drama, “You’re s truly, Johnny Dollar”….

Somebody help me! I understand the use of “Yours” as in “I am Yours”. I understand “You’re” as “You’re being a doofus”.

But how the heck would you use “Your’s” and “You’re’s” in a sentence????

Hmmm, I said yesterday that if she wakes up Luann and has to explain this dream/fantasy, it could be embarrassing. Luann may think Bernice’s flipped if she tries to tell her they are mermaids and Jack is merman! Luann may want to read the book! Lol!

Jack’s probably not interested in either one of them.

It’s nice to see Puddles the Merdog. But he’ll have to change his name. “Puddles” loses all meaning when you’re under water.

A romantic friendship is ALWAYS better and longer lasting than a friendly romance. Luanne and Jack have the friendship, but no romance. Bern wants the romance, but doesn’t really know Jack well enough to be “friends”. In truth, Jack is probably the most balanced and well-adjusted personality in the strip right now and would be a good compliment to Bern’s personality, with Luanne as the third wheel.

This tail does seem to come to an end.

It may have started out as a comic strip about teens/young adults, but by seeing the nature and number of the comments, let’s call this strip for what it is now: a full-blown daytime TV soap. Complete with its own narcissistic, spiteful and catty cast of characters. Consider “Melrose Place” from the 90s. Started out as an ’adult themed version" of Beverly Hills 90210. All warm and fuzzy around the swimming pool. But viewings dropped, and the poobahs needed to darken the story a bit—make it full of conflicts, meanness and especially backbiting revenge. So they brought in Heather Locklear, Lisa Rinna, and others, and the ratings went up again. Is this where the Luanniverse is headed? Gimme a heads up, Greg and Karen.

Bernice was not wearing polka dots nor under blankets when she first was dreaming. Now she is. So, Bern is able to pick up a dream and have continuity? This arc has gone on for too long.

Not necessarily Namrepus, Luann is a little slow when it comes to guys.

Fish come from eggs, how come they all have belly buttons?

Is that a Tear dripping from Bernice’s eye?

Jack loves Luann. And Bernice loves Jack!
