While managing the day shift, I had one of the teenage cooks grow impatient for the solid block of shortening to melt in the fryer. I couldn’t scream fast enough, before he was up to his elbow in hot oil. Luckly I had read recently about cold water being the (then) new recommended first aid for burns. Filled a sink with it got him over there then wrapped in wet towels to the ER. He got away with just red bliustered arms.
