Moderately Confused by Jeff Stahler for July 26, 2024

Oh my, his days are numbered..

At my age that’s the last thing I want to hear. (That and “He’s dead”.)

There’s always something to look forward to.

Yeah, there’s no future in it.

For some it seems to begin about age 40 and slows from there. But, that really is a dumb statement to make to a guy with a cane and maybe a bit unhappy with glib comments from people who don’t have a clue.

I agree with Dracula——-There are worse things awaiting man than death.

It’s a good thing!

I’m 75. I was out for my 4.5 mile walk this morning and I saw another man who I had seen before. I usually see him at a specific part of my walk which is on a long, uphill part of the walk. Today I saw him at a different part of the route and realized that he walks at least almost as much as I do. Based on other places where I’ve seen him, at the very least, he’s doing 3.5 miles.

To get to where I saw him, he had to climb a very steep hill that’s almost a half mile long.

I stopped him and we introduced ourselves. He’s 85 years old. I now think I know WHY he’s 85 years old.

You’re only old once, might as well enjoy it!

Just pray you don’t see your name in the obituaries.

I get ads in the mail that start “If you’re between the ages of 65 and dead…”

Just seems like it though, for some.

Yeah, you die!

that’s a comforting thought… not. (actually, considering all the aches, pains, fragility and inconveniences, I guess it is.)

The Anishinaabe tribe I am related to has an interesting viewpoint about young children and the elderly. They say children are sacred to the creator because they were recently born. The Elders are sacred because they are returning soon to the creator. Remember, the Elders were the collective libraries, wisdom, and knowledge of the people for tens of thousands of years. To be banished from the tribe by the Elders was a death sentence. They are still today held in highest honor. The Anishinaabe do not look at old age as something to be dread or dispised. It is the greatest time of their lives that they can give so much of their life experiences to the people.

It doesn’t end well.

I do hear (as an old person) a lot of griping about aging. But when you consider there’s only one way to stop aging … it’s not that bad, really.

A long time ago I worked with someone who was 50 years old, which I am way past now. A common statement from him even at that age was “old age can be hell but it beats the alternative…………at least for now!”. I’m beginning to understand it.

Does anyone know if death lasts forever?

Is this supposed to be funny?
