I fear toying with the time continuum, but we're out of options... Take my watch, go back in time and stop yourself from initiating the destruct sequence... Hey, me! Whatever you do, do not press that button!!! What?... This button?... Self-destruct sequence initiated... @#@#$$ Another try. This time I club my past self with a baseball bat... Unfortunately, it takes four minutes twenty seconds for the watch to recharge... Core breach in four minutes 13 seconds
A lesson for all of us: when you tell someone “Don’t do X”, in order to make sense of that, the person hearing it has to think of doing X and somehow add in the Don’t, which is usually too late. Telling a running child “Don’t fall!” often leads to skinned knees or worse. The way to avoid that problem is to tell the person or child what you want them to do. In the case of the running child it might be “Keep your balance!” In Monty’s case, nothing would help (otherwise there wouldn’t be a strip).
