Candidate Jimmy Carter famously promised the American public “I’ll never lie to you”, and AFAICT he never did. Seems like a good standard to emulate.

Even Abe had his limits. Years ago, I was national co-chairman of an organization that ran a man with a bag over his head for President. (No, before The Unknown Comic). It was a different person each appearance. One person wanted to do it but had stage fright. So, we pre-recorded a set of answers and distributed the questions to “plants” in the audience. The questions were asked at random; he just played the next answer from the tape. It was so much like a real campaign press conference that it even scared us.

Oh for sure! As do the major news reporting agencies!

Jim; “your” English teachers would be horrified. “You’re” is a contraction for “you are”. “Your” is the proper spelling for the possessive pronoun.
