A good example is the beginning of the Book of the Bible. In the beginning there lived Adam and Eve in paradise called the Garden of Eden. All their needs were satisfied, they hungered not since their food could be picked from the trees. They aged not and felt no pain. It was paradise.
The rest of the book is just filler, filler, filler just to stretch out the word count!
It’s the form my favorite high school English teacher taught us. In musical terms, exposition, development, and recapitulation. He called it “The Army Way.” The euphemistic way is “sonata allegro.”

People who write long books have little to say. People who write short books, even less.
