The only folks who really have control – increasingly – are the corporations. Now, they will also control speech.

I was reading another comic today (shock!) and realized Bucky Katt from “Get Fuzzy” would make a great pet for Danae … they both want to take over the world, and have huge egos… but I think if the two of ‘em were together, they would kill each other….

I think it’s time to raise a little ruckus with our legislators. They can take action to nullify this supreme court decision to let the corporations run the country but they have to do it right away.

JFri: Who is “they” ? The Supreme ‘Court which -although having a Republican-appointed majority- the, “right to life party” which couldn’t protect the unborn, sure do take care of big money corporations though, don’t they? \

How is CAPITALISM & tyrany any better than SOCIALISM & tyrany? Tyrany is tyrany. Neither one become a democratic republic.

I just figured out that by clicking ON THE STRIP, INSIDE THE BOX, my computer will enlarge it.

I HAVE A GRIP, it’s packed. Unfortunately, the USA is STILL the best country in the world so I don’t plan to be using it any time soon. What isn’t true about my post?

Why is Corporation such a bad word? My husband and I have a corporation, and it certainly hasn’t made us rich, in fact it costs us money every year. Most businesses are either corporations or limited liability companies in order to protect the owners financially. A small mom & pop operation of any business these days is most likely a corporation so that Mom and Pop won’t be bankrupt when some shyster lawyer decides the business is an easy target.

I’ve been trying for a long time to get them to enlarge the cartoons (not just mine, but all of them). The enlargement application is due to the complaints by me and some other cartoonists, like Mark Tatulli, but it’s still not adequate in opinion, as it’s not big enough and not clear.

@ JanCinVV: Depends on the “Corporation”. A “mom & pop operation” probably doesn’t have much (if any) money to spend on lobbyists, congresscritters and Senators. Multi-National conglomerates (Exxon-Mobil, Kraft, Lockheed-Martin, etc.) have near-unlimited resources to spend on influencing our so-called “representatives”; and now, thanks to a bunch of Old White Guys in Robes, they can do so – especially when Election time rolls around – and, worse yet, they can now basically buy specific candidates, congresscritters and Senators without having to go through that candidate’s/congresscritter’s/Senator’s party! So while you’re chewing on that little piece of information, ask yourself this: What makes Corporate dictatorship any better (or more benevolent) than government dictatorship?

Wiley: Sorry for the thread-jack, but I think that JanCinVV’s question needed to be answered.

What part of “congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech” don’t you guys get? The Supreme Court does not decide what laws are good or bad, but what laws are constitutional. Any law that prohibits corporations, or unions or anyone else from speaking out politically is unconstitutional. The court’s decision is correct and true. The world will not come to an end. But, hopefully, many Democratic politicians’ careers will.

The line about from the Constitution about freedom of speech applied to human beings, not corporations. I have a book coming out in a couple of months with an article about a woman who takes out a paternity suit against a corporation. The fiction that corporations are human beings is absurd.

Supreme Court jurists who were truly conservative, who applied the original intent of the framers of the Constitution, should never have agreed to this decision.

One other option is to go to view on your menu bar and then go down to zoom and increase the size of your complete window. I like this because I don’t have to enlarge each comic individually. It is also good for fine print and stuff : )

If you need the ‘toon larger, and don’t mind missing the ads(?), hold [Ctrl] and press [+] as many times as it takes to zoom-in.

Other Websites will also be zoomed-in until you use [Ctrl], [-] to zoom-out. Not ideal, but these old eyes can appreciate it.

To skip many ads and save time, Google [hosts file]; you can vector many URLs to your own ‘localhost’ (usually 127.0.0.1), where, gee, it doesn’t find an ad! (Awwww!)

In other news, the SCOTUS just rationalized a de-facto state of affairs; we have the best Government money can buy, just as long as it stays bought.
