As a Computer Professional starting in 1969 I had the opportunity to be nearby when Gates sold his soul.
A few of us were sad, but most were mad.
There is a lot of hate out there. It was generated by Gate’s betrayal of those principles that were the foundation of the Computer Age.
excellent commentary on a Sunday morning.
Let’s see now…. where should I put my faith? Oh yeah, I will visit everyone and then I will have the knowledge on how to live my life.
@SKP TomV, I assume you’re talking about Basic and not MSDOS. And I’m not at all sure that those “principles” he sold out were the foundations of the Computer Age. (Free sharing of software? I’m sure that helped some, but FOUNDATION? I don’t think so.) Don’t get me wrong; I’ve had too much close contact with Microsoft in the ’80s and ’90s to have any fondness at all for them. But I think you vastly overstate your case.
Actually, the GurusRUs Guru is th best. He has a long neck and that reminds me of the source of all guru knowledge: The Budweiser Long Neck. Been a long time since I went to the Budweiser Beer School and learned about pouring the perfect ten ounce pilzner full of that frothy delight and the benefits to be gained by pouring the delights of millions out of one of those wonderful longnecks. Funny how such things come to mind when contemplating the study of Gurus.
Happy day one and all… Get yourself a longneck and enjoy some football or basketball or church or the Sunday Times or Wiley. Or..
Somehow the most down-to-earth one of these is the “Universal Guru Service” aka ugs - somehow I just get a feeling of really be on the ground with that one!
Thanks to the Supreme Court…
A person is the same as a Corporate…
No difference to see in the possibility…
That an individual has a single pov…
And the conglomerate will never be…
Faithful to the self but only to the wealth…
Behind the beautiful course of endless cash…
Where the helpless herds amass…
I almost busted a gut laughing when I noticed the horns and tail on Gurusoft. No love for Microsoft here. I wish someone would put together a competent alternative. (I don’t see Linux as that since it is not fully icon based.)
@ses1066- isn’t that “United Guru Service”?
This is the path of education at all levels in the U.S., from Channel One to the University of Phoenix to naming opportunities on every square inch of K-16 campuses.
If I’m not mistaken, Wiley is an Apple fan, so I wouldn’t expect to see an iGuru. iGuru’s probably a trademarked term anyway, so if he did use it, he’d probably get a nasty lawyer letter from the owner. Hum, iLawyer??

Good point, LordDogmore! I just love this valley tale, and the mountain goat that shines like a Christmas star over them all!

The Gurusoft one is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Or in this case, a devil in guru’s clothing.

In this strip, Wiley was influenced by the Smurfs. (Have a Smurfy Sunday)

I saw 3 posts that said they’d pass up the KFG but no one mentioned the McGuru’s.
There’s not much difference between a Double Down and a McRib - except that after the McGuru dies, he won’t decompose.
