Homer's Roman Empire Life continues I began to suspect that the dark alley wasn't the way to the marketplace as I was told... There was nowhere to run. All I could do was tremble in fear, hoping for a miracle. Then suddenly... Homer: ? ...There was no alley! The trembling wasn't just me...it was the ground! Then out from the rubble, a swarm of rats ran past me as fast as they could, away from their city homes. That told me it wasn't over, that something deadly was still coming. So without hesitation... ...I followed them. "Now leaving fabulous Pompeii Come back soon!" Homer: That's when things really started to get crazy... Bert: "Started"? Duncan: Sadly, yes...
Wiley provides one of the best drawn modern comics, but Hal Foster (Prince Valiant) is the best I can recall. The Fantagraphic reprints are very good, but still not as great as the half-page format of the original Sunday editions. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_Valiant
