Not sure why I’m posting this here, but I wanted to remind everyone that today is the 51st anniversary of an event, also on a Sunday, November 17, that has ramifications yet today.
Football. The Jets vs. the Raiders,
And Heidi.
All over the country, there are senior citizens still going into rages after being reminded of that.
They learned that if you clean off the graffiti immediately, people stop doing it, since there’s no point if it doesn’t stay. But if you ignore the graffiti and leave it up, graffiti artists multiply.
Henry David Thoreau famously stated in Walden that “the mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation.” He thinks misplaced value is the cause: We feel a void in our lives, and we attempt to fill it with things like money, possessions, and accolades.
There is a lot to be said for such stoicism, hopefully once the orange menace has gone perhaps a slim chance may exist that we can go back to that default.
I don’t think my local paper showed the last panel to this strip. It stopped with the two guys sighing. Also no top panel of Joe coming out of mens room, and strip is reeeeeal tiny can hardly read it.

Best bathroom graffiti I saw was on a men’s latrine at Fort Campbell, KY. “Helicopters don’t fly; they beat the air into submission.”

I like the bar’s name, “Twig and Berries”. But then it occurred to me that this might be a men’s hangout. :)
