I review charts for a hospital. One said they required an Esperanto translator, but I assumed they meant Spanish.

Esperanto, Man’s attempt at a universal language. We’ll all wind up there one day, if we make it through climate change.

Have you tried reading the headlines, Joe? That and the byline may hint if you want to read farther. Sure works for me.

Lack of a common language is the least of our problems. Lack of common decency is one of the greatest.

Yes, but very few could understand it, which would certainly be an improvement for the entire platform.

I think Joe is safe -one can count on anything coming out of Eddie’s mouth as either fake news or slingshot news (stretched to the limit & likely to cause damage).

I quit watching, reading or listening to the news some time ago. I don’t miss it at all. Much of it was just chortling over grim things that happened to people I don’t know and I can’t do anything about. The rest was either breathless daily rehashing of things that could be effectively conveyed to us about once a month or, in the case of television network news, consists of YouTube clips from three days ago.

I am much happier now. That seems to be the common report of those who kick the news habit.

The national and international news is beyond most of our abilities to change and doesn’t effect our everyday lives, but it’s smart to keep up with the local news and weather so you can avoid gang-shooting areas, ice storms and hurricanes.

Long ago a radio newscaster was the only one giving dramatic readings of regular news events. His name was Paul Harvey. Nowadays almost every telecast begins with breaking news or this just in. Most tele-anchors read like they’re being lip-synched. I liked his readings better.

It’s not the words in a language that are hard to learn, but the concepts being expressed.

I believe the allusion is to trump calling his Defense Secretary “Esperanto”. Many of you may be shocked to learn that’s not his name. Not as bad as “Tim Apple” though.
