Well, this suggests Lars isn’t related to the Mekon, in spite of appearances :) https://media.mutualart.com/Images/2009_04/08/0010/154840/154840_129b90c0-461b-4ae4-9ddb-cfbaa53fa824_-1_570.Jpeg
Every week some sensationalist newspaper prints a story that an asteroid, meteor, or rogue galaxy is going to come “close” to the Earth. If NASA isn’t worried about it; I’m not worried about it.
In Boston, a tank filled with 2.3 million US gal (8,700 m3) of molasses ruptures spewing a 25-foot (8 m) wave of molasses traveling at up to 35 mph (56 km/h). Twenty-one people were killed and 150 injured. Buildings were swept off their foundations and several blocks were flooded to a depth of 2 to 3 ft (60 to 90 cm).
Yep, aliens attacking earth do not need a high tech weapon. They need only drop a good size (5 miles in diameter is plenty) chunk of rock on us. Impact any place on earth and we are goners.
The demise of newspapers is translating into far fewer jobs for journalists. National level news still gets reported in depth but there’s no one to cover local news beyond the surface level stuff that makes it onto local TV. In combination with the politicization of everything, it’s legitimate to ask whether or not democracy will even be possible. Meanwhile, “in the back pages”, newspapers were a source of steady income and even the possibility of pop celebrity for cartoonists like Wiley Miller.

Well, not from an asteroid anyway. At least, not yet.

Sometimes the photographer just needs to pitch in, especially if he’s the one who stepped on the lion’s tail.

If Lars is here to document human nature, he must be having a field day with Danae.

The day an asteroid is going to hit, they will never tell us. We’ll know very shortly before it hits. Wouldn’t want the stock market to tank.

Saving the planet from your own carelessness, Danae? You’re still a bad girl!
