It still worked out, as it turned out that the horse thief got horribly motion sick.

Slightly updated mobster version: “No, Mugsy, I’m your pal!” “It’s coitins for you Rocky, you understand? Coitins!! Here!!!” “Oh, they’re adorable!” (Mugsy? More like Bugs-y!)

That reminds me of my all time favorite “literalist” western cartoon, from the Far Side, in which a sheriff is looking at a pile of horses and people, saying “So you just threw everything together? Matthews, a posse is something you have to organize!” >

Too much effort – just a long rope and a heavy noose at the end will do.

Uhm, this is not really related to this strip but fits in with the “Literalists”-part.

Last Saturday we visited Mölln together with Lori Dobson & her husband. The town is famous for Till Eulenspiegel, who died in Mölln in 1350. In the museum we tried to figure out how to describe what kind of jokes this jester used to do. One description from Wikipedia is: "In the chapbooks, Eulenspiegel is presented as a trickster who plays practical jokes on his contemporaries, exposing vices at every turn, greed and folly, hypocrisy and foolishness. As Peter Carels notes, “The fulcrum of his wit in a large number of the tales is his literal interpretation of figurative language.” (Btw- the middle age buildings were far more interesting than the actual presentation in the two museum.)

Brandon grew up riding horses…they were the ones located outside the front door of the grocery store and you had to feed it quarters…unfortunately he always got his Keds stuck in the stirrups…which explains his mental acuity…
