This “Fire in the hole” and the (common oral and always-relevant scriptural) universal flood story might be linked as “Strap in Tight” contemporary commentary editorial/cautionary notes?
(PS: I did find our V.P.’s gracious and grace-full call to keep faith/trust, hope, and “keep working hard” address yesterday a fine and fitting finishing touch.)
“Fire in the hole” is an expression indicating that an explosive detonation in a confined space is imminent. It originated from American miners, who needed to warn their fellows that a charge had been set. Mining regulations required it be said three times [ “The shot firer must give a loud, verbal warning such as ‘fire in the hole’ at least three times before blasting”] to ensure everyone had time to hear it and clear the area.
The military later adopting this same phrase for similar explosive warnings, in particular relating to grenades or bomb squads. NASA has used the term to describe the staging of a multistage rocket vehicle by igniting the upper stage simultaneously with the ejection of the lower stage, without a usual delay of several seconds.
In ordinary everyday life, it is a catchphrase for “Watch out!” or “Heads up.”
Picture a presidential dinner guest list. Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, Kim Jong Un, plus sundry gun nuts and bigots. Oh, and don’t forget America’s foremost groveler, the big check writer. They’ll sit for a portrait and the future of our country will thus become much clearer.
Alas, we have all misjudged Donald Trump, myself included. I had always thought of him as a lazy, incompetent, bigoted pervert unfit to moderate a game of Dungeons and Dragons.
He is, in fact, the greatest con artist in American history.

“Great Political Speeches of donald (duck) trump”
Wonder if trump will realize, 21 January, he’s redundant. If he was worried about poisoning in the past…

I wuz just tinkin’…
Many countries have had Prime Ministers or Presidents who were found to be criminals, thieves mostly.
The United States is the first to elect a convicted rapist to the Presidency. trump, making history, the hard way.
When I get a little down, I find solace in music, listen to Harry Chapin’s “Circle”, see if it helps you.
We’ve been thru worse than this schmuck, be strong.
