For the confused, in football (of the sorts where the ball is allowed to bounce freely, and isn’t being carried about by highly specialised and well paid athletes) “attack the ball” (meaning make haste to where the ball is) is a common coaching instruction, because if you don’t the opposing team will gain control if it and that’s usually a Bad Thing.
