I’ve not research the origin, but I used to get a big heart box of Fanny Mae’s from my friend in Illinois every year. They were always an assortment chosen by the store to show ALL their flavors. Eventually, I had so many boxes saved that we bought OUR favorites and filled the box.
My new friend here is as thrifty as I am and not likely to buy me a gift (nor do I plan any for him. I would have made a special dinner on Valentines (as I did on Skype last year with the other guy) but it is the last few nights of his theater performance that weekend (and I’d rather not spend what time remains in the kitchen). I will fix all the caviar and oysters on the next weekend (they aren’t really needed) ;-D
