I remember coming home one night and there were a bunch of different denomination bills all over the front yard. I forget what the total was. Also found a $20 bill in a Wal*mart parking lot. (Bought a Shania Twain cd.)
In dire straits with no money and between paydays. Out of food and had to use last money for an auto part I needed badly. Look on the floor of the store and there it was, a $10 bill, saved. I pretended I had to tie my shoe.
When I was a kid, we apparently lived fairly close to a Bar that would have an occasional Patron staggering by our house on their way home. I found a dollar bill once, a twenty once, and a cache of coins in a broken part of a concrete wall on a set of stairs going up to our backyard…
I’ve found $20 bills many times. (Between biking, and walking, and especially running, I’m ALWAYS finding money on the ground, though it’s usually coins). My biggest find was a wad of FOUR $20’s. That one, because of the way it was wadded and also because it was in close proximity to a school, I suspected might have been lost by some kid from the school and had a chance of being able to be claimed on the basis of the amount and the way it was wadded. I turned it in to the local police exactly as found and they held on to it. But once three months had gone by and no one had claimed it, I got to keep it.
I was standing in the rain at a fairly crowded bus stop waiting to go home. A guy came up to me and asked if I had lost $20. I said, “no”. He said, “good” and picked up a twenty that was laying at my feet.
I was out fishing once and was reaching over the side of the boat to pull in a fish when my billfold fell out of my pocket and sunk. In trying to grab it I dropped the fish and the net too! Worst day ever! Then, as I was sitting there bemoaning my loss, a large fish broke the surface and he had my billfold on his nose!!!! And with a flip it popped in the air and another big old fish caught it on his nose!! And he flipped to another, and another, and another!!! And it landed in my boat!I was absolutely amazed, gobsmacked even! That was the first case I had ever seen of
At Safeway I saw the customer in front of me drop $10. I told the checker and he chased down the customer, but the customer denied dropping the money. I got the $10 back, but then put it in the charity jar.
At another time I found money dropped in front of a Catholic Church. I was on my way to grocery shopping, and I was sure to drop that money in a charity jar too.

The three best things I ever found laying on the ground:
1. $20 bill.
2. Two tickets to a Genesis concert.
3. 1/4 ounce bag of marijuana.
