Even the improved resolution that GoComics is now using is insufficient for the miniscule type font used in the captions on this page. Zooming helps, but not enough. When originally printed, these comics covered an entire newspaper page, much larger than any normal computer monitor.
Scanning the entire page is simply not a workable solution, if GoComics expects anyone to actually READ the text in the captions. If a case like this one, it would be much better to scan each panel as a separate image, and provide them as a “series” of separate frames.
