In South Africa, where I started my schooling, the multiplication tables we had to memorize ended not with ten times but with twelve times. This was, of course, back in the days of shillings and pounds, so the 12X table was important for knowing the number of pence in a certain number of shillings. (As well as inches in a foot, BTW.)
