I woke up at around 7 the other day. I turned on my computer, and wrote a couple of comments here on GoComics, checked my email, and a couple of other things. I hadn’t slept well that night, and was tired, so I went back to bed, and got up again at about 9. When I looked at my fitness watch, it said I had been asleep that whole time, and didn’t wake up until 9. But I wasn’t dreaming. I checked, and my posts were still here.
It’s kind of weird reading Snoopy’s thought bubbles, knowing we never hear his thoughts in any animated iterations. Unless you count Snoopy the Musical, but everyone hated hearing his thoughts there.
At the 1976 time, there was about to be a remake of King Kong starring Jessica Lange being made. The 1976 remake was updated for the 1970’s and featured the original World Trade Center pre September 11, 2001.
I’ve gotten to the point with one of my recurring dreams (being lost and having the landscape around me constantly changing) where I know it’s happening and I explain to the other characters in my dream who I ask for help but they never have good advice that I am dreaming this.
The dream used to upset me, but now I just go along with it and I even “direct” the action sometimes.
That dream’s not worth having without Fay Wray. Or at least Jessica Lange. The second one wasn’t as good as the original, but Jessica is at least as pretty as Fay.
Yes there is! Me! She was a good looking blonde, so it was no question as to why King Kong went for her. Still one of my favorite movies at 69. “It was beauty that killed the beast”.
I prefer the original 1933 classic King Kong over any version since. It’s one of those iconic films that was just done right the first time, and no version since has recaptured that. Modern versions of Kong almost always present him as a sad, lonely ape, but the original was far from that. He was a fierce creature that wasn’t the king of Skull Island for nothing.

I think that’s called “sleep paralysis”. You should be seeing a big dude with a hat.

Yeah, that would disappoint me, too.

Poor Woodstock.

You wouldn’t want her to climb up on your face. And you were lucid dreaming, which is the state of being self-aware that one is dreaming.

I used to sometimes become aware that I was dreaming, but it hasn’t happened to me in a while

When I become aware that the impossible is happening, that tends to awake me — that and a full bladder.

I love knowing I’m asleep. Most relaxing thing there is.

If King Kong went to Hong Kong to play ping pong and died there, what would they put on his coffin?
A lid.

It wasn’t the airplanes that killed Kong, it was the beauty.

The original King Kong starring Fay Wray was, in my opinion, a very good movie for the time it was made.

Darn what’s that term for being aware of being in a dream again?

Gary Larson is probably the king of weird comics humor, but Charles Schulz’s humor could get pretty weird, too!

I’m often aware on some level that I’m dreaming. Sometimes I can “steer” things a bit. I used to have recurring dreams all the time when I was a kid.

One more trivia—-the original THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME was shot on the Kong set.The “log bridge” is the same in both pics.
Also,Fay Wray had to watch out for Lionel Atwill more than she did giant monkeys.
