Back in the 60s there was a cereal called “Twinkles”, and on the back of the box was story starring the elephant mascot. There was a flap on the back of the box, so it was a three-page story. There were also little animated cartoons on TV, not mentioning the cereal but featuring Twinkles the elephant and his friends. Beyond that, backs of boxes were usually devoted to mail-in offers or a prize inside the box. Drifted away from dry cereal by the 70s, so not sure what Patty would be reading.
Oh oh. So Marcie is in the same class as Patty. Marcie was so busy following Patty around the entire holidays reminding Patty she should be doing her book report instead of playing fun games, that Marcie didn’t have any time left to read her own book for her book report! Oops! Marcie, where’s your book report?
Now that you’ve mastered that, Patty, you should try something more advanced, like a shampoo bottle. Curved shape, smaller print and more complex vocabulary will make it more challenging. You’ll really impress your teacher when you can correctly spell terms like “sodium lauryl sulphate.”
Whenever I needed to do a book report, I took out a sheet of paper and numbered the chapters verticallly. Then, I wrote down the first page and last page of each chapter. Each chapter was now one short story. I took notes on each chapter and ticked each chapter off one by one. If the book was interesting, I would read two chapters a night.

For her next report, she’ll read the comments here aloud to her class.

If Bob Dylan can win a Nobel prize, a cereal box can win a Pulitzer.

It seems as how I remember some General Mills products that sported rather extensive reading on the backs of their cereal boxes and games, too.

I don’t read cereal boxes. I just look at the pictures on the back. They’re full of games and artwork.

Notice PP’s teacher let her complete her “book” report. May have figured getting PP to read a cereal box is progress for her.

With some of these cereal box list of ingredients, one needs a degree in chemistry.

I have no problem with cereal boxes winning Pulitzer Prizes, as long as they don’t plagiarize other cereal boxes

Supposedly the guy who created the McDonald’s Happy Meal got the idea for the box by watching his kid read the cereal box at breakfast.
