The reason why rich people have lap dogs: Originally lap dogs were used by aristocratic women (they were first mentioned in literature in the 15th century). Because of their higher body temperature compared to the humans they used to draw the fleas away from said humans. Especially in the 18th century they were trained and used as sex toys. And yes, I wish I was joking, but I am not.
