At least it wasn’t the Stoning of Stephan.

The Charlie Brown balloon floated over from ‘Brewster Rockit’.

Well played, Stephan. This particular strip is a direct homage to a similar Peanuts strip, where Charlie Brown, Lucy, and Linus are looking at the clouds and having the same word-for-word conversation, except for the last two panels.

In the original Peanuts strip, after Lucy asks Charlie Brown what he sees in the clouds, Charlie Brown answers, “Well, I was going to say that I saw a ducky and a horsie, but I changed my mind,” because he considers those things to be ridiculously lame compared to the images that Linus said that HE saw.

Again: Very clever, Stephan, very clever! :-)

Well, this kinda let’s the air out of good ol’ Charlie Brown!

Sincere & sentimental thanks to the commenters who reminded me of that great PEANUTS strip. That said- parades, circuses & zoos should all be consigned to 1911, where they were still relevant & moronic displays even then.

I think it’s in tribute to Charles Schulz’s birthday yesterday.

Stephan worked for Schulz’s various enterprises and the Schulz Museum for a long time.

And Marg — I was thinking that too. Brewster didn’t stop them all from attacking people, I see.

And I…..sniffle… like parades…. though I much prefer the small home grown variety to big commercial ones.

This one is going to be hung over my desk in NJ. And I too like Parades, all sizes. The smiling faces of the spectators always make my day.

I remember Linus seeing the stoning of Stephen in the clouds. it seems that it was audio though, not a comic.maybe on an album or one of the TV shows?

Actually, it used to be the custom at the end of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade to release the balloons and let them float away.

I wondered why the use of a country’s name which changed to Belize when Steph was in kindergarten. And you folks make it clear why.

Goat’s description follows Linus’s but isn’t word for word the same. It’s shorter, for one thing, possibly because of space constraints. He leaves out seeing the Apostle Paul standing there to one side.

Another great tribute to Schulz. Pastis is definitely up there in Schulz’s league, with a clever touch of humor on the Dark Side.

Duketydukie…your attitude needs flushing…parades go ’way back, perhaps even further than the humanity of the source of your opinion. If you do away with parades, you do away with the source of probably ALL entertainment and show biz.

Although maybe,now that I think about it…are consciously chosen fantasies GOOD for humans? I think Plato’s “Republic” has an opinion on this one…

You really have to hand it to Pastis. It’s not easy to so gently tip the hat to Peanuts without compromising the vibe of Pearls.

I love Rat (well, all of them) so I loved that he got squashed!The other night I watched “Come Home Snoopy” on cable – I almost cried. I love Charlie Brown.

I loved the duality of the comment of “The stoning of Stephen.” Biblically it is pretty sidistic, by as Stephan it cracks me up. Nicely done
