This reminds me of a friend’s father who told me seriously when I was 14 years old, Oh, Lisa, you must be six feet tall! I asked him why he thought that, and he looked me straight in the eye and said, Because I’m 5’8", and you’re taller than me, so you must be around six feet tall. (I was 5’8" then, and haven’t gone up any since.

I guess shoes can add a few extra feet.

I like how P. Goat has been appearing a lot lately; he’s the character I most identify with.

Please, Goat, don’t correct him; he’s such a fragile sole that only a heel would do such a thing.(When it comes to lacing a post with puns, I’m no loafer.)

If he tries to wedge in another, and all those shoes crash, Pig can simply reboot.

Not to rain on Pig’s 5’ 9" parade or anything; but, Pig, you practically NEVER wear shoes! Where’d you get all those? And why are you wearing them on your head? (Or was that one-too-many questions?)

Nice walkway. Looks like the neighborhood is getting a spruce-up this summer.

2 thoughts came to me as I read this, today.1) How did Pig measure himself without all the shoes falling off?2) In the Amish country here, shoo-fly pie is a favorite dessert, but I used to wonder why they made pies out of shoe flies.

At first I thought Pig had a giant Dagwood sandwich on his head.

Count the shoes on his head — five of them. With a few inches left over to the top of the fence. So we know he’s over five feet tall…a great visual pun.

But I get a persistent image of five people walking around somewhere with one shoe on.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again….For puns, read Spider Robinsons’s Callahan’s Cross-time Saloon series, the puns are bad(or good – it depends on your definition) to make your sole hurt and your shoes fall off.

If they can measure horses with hands and Englishmen with stones why not Pigs with shoes?
