I presume Pig is thinking of the dreamy 1939 classic Stairway to the Stars, not the completely different 1972 track by Blue Oyster Cult. Even more completely different is Led Zeppelin’s 1971 masterpiece Stairway to Heaven, which, as some here may have failed to notice, does not mention Stairway to the Stars at all!

Definitely the Johnny Mathis. He sings with much more feeling and the video is brilliant, especially how it uses the Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers dance sequence.
