Technology always wins … until it doesn’t!!

I know of two such towers. Does anyone else also feel insulted by them?

I get my internet from a cell phone tower

That’s not Rat. It’s an over the air tv antenna.

The new towers of Babel. Lots of communication, little unterstanding.

It’s no quite so easy to find nature that’s all natural anymore.

Tech is winning, until the power goes out!

It’s a camouflaged Chinese radio transmission tower. They’re everywhere! They’re everywhere!

Actually, when you think of it, the fact that they’re trying to disguise cell phone towers as trees is a good thing; it’s a sign that human beings still prefer nature over technology on an aesthetic and spiritual level.

It’s sort of like the old saying “hypocrisy is the compliment vice pays to virtue.”

Those exist?

I have never seen a cell tower like that. I hope I never do. Looks ridiculous.

Those cell tower “trees” crack me up. Not unlike a toddler who closes his eyes so you can’t see him!

Who puts leaves on a cell phone tower? That seems like a fire hazard or something.

I’m surprised he didn’t video the walk and post it on YouTube.

I suppose a fake tree would look better than the ugly towers in use in most places. I wonder if they last as long and are more cost effective?

I thought people were to busy on their phones to notice anything around them

I think I will never see,A cell tower lovely as a tree,And unless that cell tower happens to fall,I will never see a tree at all.

They put a cell phone tower in a tree???!!! That’s horrible!!!

Any piece of land is destroyed…either by fracking, towers, and or developers clearing the trees for another concrete jungle shopping center. ☹️☹️☹️

Technology hasn’t won with Rat. His TV is a cathode-ray tube TV, apparently a floor model with faux wood case.

In the early days of cellular service, Scandinavian companies made deals with churches to install antennas in steeples. Clever idea, but never heard any further about it so I don’t know if it flew or failed.

There will be fewer tall towers in the future. 5G (and it’s future evolutions) will require more antennas, but not as tall. Make no mistake, there will always be tall towers, but not all tall towers carry cellular equipment.

I’m a huge nerd about synchronicity in comics – today we have two comics (‘Pearls’ and ‘Speed Bump’) about cell phone towers. I have to wonder if the artists compare notes and decide “okay, on May 14th we’ll all do a strip incorporating canned soup” and then they see who has the most creative comic that day.

That or it’s just random dumb luck that commonly occurring subjects sometimes turn up on the same day…

Will the “leaves” change color with the season?

Today’s strip makes me sad.I won’t claim to long for simpler times and I will own up to having played a small part in getting us where we are, but some things were better just a few decades ago – more nature is part of that.

Works for me, never ever fancied living in a cave and scavenging for leftovers. Central heating and a microwave for me thank you

A running gag with my wife and me is, “Look at that beautiful tree.”

Don’t understand why the cellphone companies think those look like trees rather than cellphone towers. Their litterally easy to spot from miles away as cellphone towers (Not joking, I’ve looked at a ridgeline that’s at least two miles away from me and picked out the cellphone tower because it sticks out worse when they try disguising it as a tree than when they do nothing to it)

If they really want them to look more realistic, the need to change the branches/leaves depending on the season!!!

ANNND TO enjoy God’s creation with only a few cell towers, I love Yellowstone National Park

—Especially when it’s camouflaged tech!
