Phoebe and Her Unicorn by Dana Simpson for February 08, 2017

Marigold: You should probably do your book report. Phoebe: I know... But I told mom I did it already, so now if they see me doing it, they'll know I LIED. So I guess I'm gonna have to go on lying forever. Here. I brought your favorite artisanal oats, to bribe you to keep quiet. Marigold: This is a new side of you.
You need to learn how to lie better, Phoebe. For example, if you continue this lie you will get into trouble with your teacher and also in trouble with your parents in case your teacher calls home. But if you go home now and tell your parents that you forgot your book report because the assignment sheet got crumpled up at the bottom of your bag, then you will only get a small amount of trouble because you are trying to make up for your ‘forgetfulness’ and also need to hurry to finish in time, so no time for a scolding. If you play your cards right you will even get a new binder for your loose papers out of it.
