I do occasionally pretend to be blind, heightening my hearing and feeling. (I’d rather not exercise my sense of smell most of the time.) You don’t even need to close your eyes, really; just unfocus them and ignore the input.
This is why hearing aids are wonderful. You don’t want to listen to that darn smoke alarm outside the kitchen going off again? You don’t have to! (Um…)
