Phoebe should have just muted herself so that we could draw our own conclusion to her dialogue. Like say a colorful metaphor:-D.

“I noticed you have some sort of round thing with a mute symbol floating over your head. Turns out those are worth a fortune on the goblin black market. And it happens that Blaartholemew once showed me the secret entrance.”

That’s the problem with not listening to what they tell you, you can miss something important!

Lying (nodding and smiling in this case) ALWAYS causes a problem of some kind. Though I’d not have survived this long if I hadn’t managed to learn how to nod and smile AND hear a bit of what’s being blathered.

yep I saw that was a possible outcome. Loud House did a similar episode. So I considered it possible.

I think we all saw this coming. Dakota was most likely being very sincere too. Phoebe’s only hope is to wait an hour or two and ask Dakota to remind her of everything and blame something magical.

Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where George’s boss gave him instructions while he (the boss) was in the bathroom, assuming George had followed him—but he (George) hadn’t

This really happened to me, decades ago in college. The third morning in the dorm, I commented on how soundly I slept (after two nights of not sleeping). My roommate asked if I remembered answering the phone. I just barely did. And then I realized someone may have asked me out on a date and I had no idea of where or when!

I knew that was going to happen!

It came up in “Agnes” about a strip featuring an Agnes meet up with Phoebe and Marigold.

I think a better matchup would be “Phoebe and Her Unicorn” and “Wallace the Brave” (if you haven’t seen it, it is THE BEST new comic out there, from the artwork to the characters). I think a “Spud” and Phoebe romance would be amazing to see. Marigold (the Unicorn) vs Sterling would be awesome as well

How will Phoebe find out? Will she ask one of the magickal creatures to find it or come clean to Dakota and ruin that friendship?

As I frequently tell my patients with hearing loss, smiling and nodding when you don’t understand can get you in sooooo much trouble.

Great. Next thing you know, Dakota will be explaining how MLM works using circles, or maybe trying to get her to tithe to some non-denominational ministry…
