Funny, cute was not the first word that came to mind for me.

Actually, until the mid-50s, pink was considered a proper color for little boys, because it was more “forceful” than blue, which – even among Protestants – was associated with the Virgin Mary. Red is a “royal” color (at one time insanely expensive) and pink was a form of red and considered appropriate for the man who considered his home to be his castle.

Earl is a confident man.
