I think a battery operated tooth brush is the most useless item in the world.

True story: my daughter is now 21 but when she was 11 her friend came over after school and they were in the basement watching TV. We have an old rotory phone down there left over from my apartment days. I hollered “Nicole call your mom to let her know you’re here”. A few minutes later, “mom we don’t know how to use the phone”.

“Spring forward —daylight savings time”~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~. Bah humbug! I HATE DST. We lose TWO hours – One hour, they take away from us (like it or not) and then we lose another one setting all the clocks forward! Then adding insult to injury, in the Fall, they give us back the hour they took inthe Spring,. but we lose it moving back all the clocks by 11 hours – which takes even longer..A little irony here — all the bright bulbs who foisted this whole insane ritual on us are now long dead!

Well, there’s the one on the microwave, the one on the stove, the ones in the vehicles, the alarm clocks. I wish they would just leave it one way or the other. My husband is definitely on goweeder’s side—actually he’s more against. The original purpose—to save electricity—has been proven to be absolutely wrong as it actually uses more energy—as people use that extra daylight to go somewhere or stay up later. As I said, pick one and stay with it and eliminate all the confusion.

True story: I spent most of my life getting periodic gum infections and growing cavities. Dentists kept yelling at me, though I brushed and flossed every day. Then one of the dentists had me watch a video, which showed that you brush sideways, not up and down. Try to get under gums and get the corner teeth well. Then use a “go-between” brush shaped like a tiny Christmas tree. Finish off with a good flossing and carefully get rid of the soft stuff that gets around your teeth, [sorry if that was TMI]. (Also I take calcium supplements and a weekly pill to combat osteoporosis.) I arranged with the hygienist to demonstrate my technique, and she gave me pointers. Since then I haven’t had any gum infections, and doctors in other disciplines have commented on my good hygiene. (It doesn’t take all that long, either!) Oh, and I use an electric toothbrush. The hygienist said that many people have developed their own regimens, which work well.
