I bet it is onion soup.

She should have said, “Looks aren’t everything, take me for example”.

On the other hand, usually with food the aroma is the first thing you notice, and that usually trumps looks. But if the aroma isn’t appealing, the food probably isn’t either.

It is possible that Opal isn’t a good cook. Nelson is just calling it like he sees it. Although there is the old saying, “If you can’t say something nice, be quiet.”

I wonder what kind of soup it is? I think split pea soup is the most disgusting looking. I’ve never managed to get it past my eyes to actually taste it.
