You could have at least put it in a bowl Earl. Opal not going to be very happy when she uses you to wipe the floor up.

I’ve served many meals of eat-it-or-go-hungry. Typically, after a comment of “Eww, what’s that?”

Back when I ate corned-beef-hash, it seemed that way when feeding myself.

Spouse feeds the cat a dollop of gooshy food that’s been mixed with a tbsp of hot water into a catfood-smelly soup. Kitty licks the easy stuff up and pushes the rest around. Spouse then re-fixes the dish with more water, Kitty eats most of it.

When it’s my chore (seldom, and don’t tell spouse) I put the dollop onto her regular plate and walk away. An hour or two later I come and throw out whatever’s left. Starting the 2nd or 3rd day, Kitty eats it all.

We’re having a hunger strike tonight. Apparently the ‘waiter’ made the wrong choices for his diners.

Yikes Earl as allen said Opal is NOT going to be happy. Plus both of you don’t like eating the same thing every day. Try variety for your cat, Muffin too.

Reminds me of a scene out of The Next Karate Kid where the girl turns her nose up at the food. The monk just picked up her food and took it away. She suddenly decided it was ok, but too late – it was taken away. That was the last time she turned her nose up to the offered food. So, well played Earl – take it or leave it.

Did this with my #2 sister’s MIL’s picky cat. They were on vacation, so I was feeding the hoard (about 7 IIRC) and ran out of the special food picky cat insisted on. Picky cat changed her mind after two days.

We always fed the pets the same way we fed the kids. This is what we’re having. If you don’t eat it now, you can eat it at the next meal. It doesn’t take very long for them to learn to eat it the first time.

funny how hunger pains can make any food acceptable and cherished – even to cats

it’s only in the locations of abundance that one gets picky about taste/smell/presentation. in the end calories are calories and a full stomach is much easier to sleep on than an empty one.

I don’t know why I’m always surprised at the cruelty in the comments here. What’s the big deal about giving the cat food it likes. Why starve an animal into eating what you want to feed it? Because it makes you feel powerful and superior? Instead, it shows how small you are. Shame on all of you who take pride in mistreating pets.

In my neighborhood I’ve found bird (and on occasion, chicken) carcasses in the parks. Some cats prefer street food apparently.

Earl you should had a dish for cat food. We used to have a cat that was picky had one kind of cat food he liked, husband decided a different brand, cat did not like, so I had to buy what he liked than add, I told husband never do that again.
