Shopping hours are an eternity. My friend and I go shopping with our wives. We pick out what we like and buy it and are done. Then we go and have cocktails while we wait for what seems like an eternity while our wives shop. Just a difference in decision making.
I used to have to do shopping with my mother. My father would wait in the car where he could watch the pretty girls go buy, I had to go in the store, sit on the little stool or couch, and hold her purse. My father got the best deal of it.
Going shopping, for something you don’t want, with someone who whined to get you to come, in a store that has nothing that interests you, and your required to pay for it takes forever.
Could be my life experience but I discovered the difference between NEED & WANT long ago. Needs are essential to life and are quickly consumed or utilized. Wants tend to pile up in closets, garage, attic, storage shed, and end up in resale shops or landfill. To be CONTENT with what I have also stretches my limited income.
Problem solved Earl! China has come up with this … https://www.timesnownews.com/viral/china-introduces-husband-storage-pods-in-malls-for-lengthy-shopping-trips-article-90281873
I like to shop, although I’ve gotten pickier over the years, and don’t buy as much as I used to. I can drive myself, I earn my own money, and my husband only comes along if he wants to.
I think women who do the shopping in families should take a few months off of any shopping. Let’s see how the household runs. Maybe a whole year, give the rest of the family a little time to learn how difficult it can be.
My stepdad was one of those rare men who LOVED to go shopping. The only place he refused to go into was the fabric store (after the time the cutting table ladies ignored him, thinking he was “just there with someone”). He’d take mom there, but then he’d sit in the car with his Kindle.
Shopping hours are like the last two minutes of a football game; tied score, both teams have all their time-outs and the network has a bunch more commercials to run. I’m glued to the TV, so I figure it’s only fair…
My father loved to go shopping, while my mother did not. On visits to see my parents after I was living on my own, my father enjoyed taking me to the local shopping center (this was in pre-mall America) and had fun helping me pick out clothes. He had a great eye for what would look good on me!

On my most recent grocery run on my day-off therefrom, one co-worker jokingly said to me that I overstayed my welcome.

You go to the mall (if you still have one) and you see the men sitting in the chairs while their wives are out shopping!

My brother is a browser when we go into a store. I’m his sister and it drives me nuts.

Shopping hours are longer for men than they are for women. That was proven by Einstein’s Theory of Relativity.

I’ve always considered J.C. Penney’s a twilight zone , My late Wife would say to me in and out 15mins tops , 1hr. 45mins. Later still no sigh of her !

The shopping hours phenomenon depends on what it is, that you’re shopping for.
Clothes, shoes or wallpaper? Yup.
Tools, boats or motorcycles? Nope.

It adds hours to your life. You just lived an extra 7 in one. Well, LIVED may be overstating it a mite, but you felt it slowly pass….

Much longer, especially at a fabric store, now time speeds up in the Hardware store, it’s an unexplained phenomenon.
