You might want to check Nelson. I’m pretty sure a lackey is below an underling. You want to be aiming for minion. Harley Quinn was Joker’s “minion with benefits” until she hooked up with Poison Ivy.
Little kids are fun to fool, as long as it’s not done in a mean or hurtful way. It took me years sometimes to figure out the jokes in what my grandfather and father said.
When I was in my first position at a large school district (staff, not teaching) they hired a new supervisor. I overheard her tell someone on the phone that she would have her lackey take care of somehting. I was appalled and my opinion of her went straight into the toilet. If it had been me she was talking about, we would would have had words.
From a skit by Canada’s Wayne and Shuster ( think it was The Scarlet Pumpernickel), “It’s getting so you can’t tell the lackeys from the flunkys anymore”
A lackey was literally a servant or “poor relation” who did not rate a key to the manor – i.e. lack – key
The names for subordinates are often used interchangeably and fall in and out of favor with P.C. (politically correct) or “woke” social agendas. It rarely matters to those who take the orders. Anything is better than, “Hey, you!”.

By consulting a thesaurus, Opal and Earl can go back and forth on this for weeks.

Opal, Nelson can’t be your Lackey. First off you already have a husband, and secondly Nelson is your Grandson.

Nowadays, people are cautioned not to lick batter containing eggs because of salmonella, the bacteria, not the piscine equivalent of Cinderella !

Maybe Nelson should go home to his mother, so he can be what he’s meant to be, an indentured servant.
