We used to color hard with the white over other shades, for variety.

Coupla months ago I was in a Dollar Tree and spotted a box of “flesh color” crayons. Through the cutout on the front of the box, they were all the same shade of pale beige, and I thought to myself “someone completely missed the point”.

However, when I bought them (to show to friends) and opened the top of the box, it was just the paper sleeve of each crayon that was “caucasian” in color; the crayons themselves were a full assortment off human skin tones. Nicely done!

I was unhappy when Crayola changed it’s 12-pack of Colored Pencils from: Red, Red Orange, Orange, Yellow, Yellow Green, Green, Sky Blue or Light Blue, Blue, Purple or Violet, Black, Brown or Dark Brown, and Light Brown or Tan …

… to Red, Red Orange, Orange, Yellow, Yellow Green, Green, Sky Blue or Light Blue, Blue, Purple or Violet, Black, Brown, and White.

A white crayon is just as bad as a black person going for a tattoo.

I was the skinny kid that never got picked. Except I didn’t wear glasses. Now I wear glasses, I’m not a kid, and I’m anything but skinny. And I still don’t get picked.

Different white than the paper. Like the subtle color swatches for white paint. Perhaps a whole box of shades of white? (with sharpener) Or really big ones to prep your paper like painters prep their canvas.

You can do a Malevich, “White on White.” Real art. I buy a box of crayons from time to time, mostly for the aroma.

We scribbled it down to flatten the point, peeled off the paper and used them for pretend cigarettes. (This was in the 50s when EVERYBODY smoked.)

Physicists know white is a combination of red, green, and blue and use them to create magenta, cyan, and yellow. Now, I just need a few prisms.

When I was a kid, se used white crayons on white paper to create “invisible messages.” To reveal them, you brushlver them with watercolor paint (or what qualifies as watercolors in those kiddie art kits).

Of course, they never turned out perfect, because we could barely see what we were writing.
