Like after a big wipeout, the rabbi appeared to cross himself. When it was actually testicles, spectacles, wallet, and watch. You know, check the important things.
For my father it was: keys, wallet, pipe and lighter, no cell phones then. They came up when I was in my end thirties. The first ones were large like bricks.
Jumpin’ Jesus on a Pogo Stick! And you call yourselves Pluggers? Punk kids is more like it. A real Plugger has a wallet, a watch, a handkerchief, a pocket comb, and a pocket knife. Always! It’s somewhere in both the Constitution and the Bible. Look it up.
Additional items might include car keys, glasses, and a phone. A small top bound spiral note pad with a golf pencil stuck in the top is also acceptable but it has to be red and not cost more than 89¢.
I fell off the anti-tech wagon and bought a smartwatch so that i DON’T have to have my phone with me at all times. Problem is, without my glasses I sometimes need the phone to be able to read what’s on my watch. Then I need my lap top to be able to read what’s on the phone.
sergioandrade is right about the cellphone, but there’s more.
Just look at Andy, he’s got a hat on. Can’t forget the hat to keep the sun out of your eyes, or (for the follicley challenged) to keep the sun off the scalp.
Lastly, if not in CA or NY, check for pocket knife and gun.

Not sure what you mean by symbolic, but it’s the most public, fan-owned team in existence: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Bay_Packers,_Inc.
Reading in a-ways; I see that there are no dividends, like normal stock; if you sell, your shares can ONLY be sold back to the team and at a “fraction of the original price”.
“Even though it is referred to as “common stock” in corporate offering documents, a share of Packers stock does not share the same rights traditionally associated with common or preferred stock. It does not include an equity interest, does not pay dividends, cannot be traded, and has no protection under securities law. It also confers no season-ticket purchasing privileges. Shareholders receive nothing more than voting rights, an invitation to the corporation’s annual meeting, and an opportunity to purchase exclusive shareholder-only merchandise.4"
“Shares cannot be resold, except back to the team for a fraction of the original price.”
If you “own” stock in this outfit you are “taking one for the team.” LOL !
Right front jeans pocket – wallet, keys, small sprayer bottle of alcohol, pill box. Left front jeans pocket – cell phone, small bottle of hand sanitizer. And that was before Covid came along. These days also have plastic sandwich bags in left pocket so if need to open a door at a store do not need to actually touch the door.
I have been carrying the hand sanitizer for decades – due to allergies I cannot just use hand soap when out, so I have been carrying the sanitizer to use when in ladies rooms. Have carried the spray bottle of alcohol since we had bed bugs about 16 years ago as they don’t like alcohol and it also kills them.
Rear pockets are generally empty as too concerned about loosing items from them.
I don’t carry a purse. If going to work (back in normal times and hopefully in the future again) my briefcase doubles to hold personal items. When dressed up for the very rare occasions there is a big party I made myself a version of an 18th century pocket which was tied around the waist under one’s petticoat (skirt) and apron and accessed through side slits in the petticoats. My modern one is black fabric instead of white or beige and was to close with velcro – but same did not hold so use a safety pin through the two ends of the waistband of it. Can’t forget, lose, or have stolen what one does not have.
Heat (adjust the thermostat), lights, (turn them off), purse, bag (of work stuff), lunch, tea. And for just the purse: wallet, keys, phone, mask (Covid). Now I’m ready to go to work!
