The four neighbours I meet most often are named Matthew, Mark, Luke & John; and that’s the gospel truth.

At least when you are older, you can call people “buddy”, “pal”, “sweetie”, “sport”, etc. without being offensive.

I try to associate a person’s name or features to someone famous or some object that will trigger back to their name. A German lady I know who’s name is Monica I associated with harmonica which is exactly what I called her one day. Oops!

um… uh…. pal, buddy, friend, dude, man, lady, etc. etc. etc. = not having to remember the names. and if they start a conversation and I have no idea who they are, I just say great, how are you and look for an exit. and when the beautiful wife asks “who was that” I just shrug and say “don’t know, but they seemed friendly”

When people aren’t where they “belong” it’s really hard to know who they are. The person who rungs up your groceries several times a week is a total stranger when you see them in the bank.

    From today’s Comics Curmudgeon:

ME ON THURSDAY, APRIL 20, 2023: Being a little forgetful about names is a normal thing for a person to experience. I’m not opening myself up to shame or ridicule by talking about it on my blog for everyone to read.

ME ON MONDAY, APRIL 24, 2023: Oh no. Oh NO.

Just a “hi how are you” does not need a name. Then again, we only need to know the names of the couple and their 2 daughters to the north and the couple and their one daughter to the south. Though while out clearing snow this past winter I said to husband as we waved to the neighbor across the street (4 traffic lanes, 2 parking lanes and it is a different community – even different house numbering) “I guess after all these decades we should send him a Christmas card and introduce ourselves”. (Live here over 30 years us, him about 20-25 years.) Of course when Christmas came and we were sending out our 15 to maybe 20 cards – we forgot him!!
