This is why I use electric mowers. No need to mess around with gas or oil, don’t need to “winterize” it. Manipulating the electric cord is a minor inconvenience, but it is still worth it.

I try to avoid that with the Lawn Tractor. Pain in the butt to restart when run out of gas ;-)

Do a section every day, by the end of the week you’ll have it done!

The mower is easily taken care of. The Plugger requires a trip to the kitchen for a piece of cake, pie, PB&J, etc.

For more gas the plugger needs to eat more beans.

Use a battery powered or electric mower and at least the mower would be able to “carry on”…..

Nope, that is perfect timing. A little rest, perhaps a brew.. then to the store for gas and by then it’s too late to finish the lawn.

Wait until the all electric mower with every 15 minute refuel

I saw a guy yesterday weed-clearing with an electric weed-whacker connected to a generator that he had to haul out into the middle of the field. That’s just weird and inefficient.

Time to get gas and refill the quart cooler cup at the convenience store.

It’s okay, NO mow May

i don’t see this as a bad thing… if my mower quits, and I quit, I take it as a hint, and go put my feet up.

my father has the gas push mower that has been used when I was a boy (1980s or 90s) and it still runs AOK

When he was working full time we had a gardener to mow (BIL of his secretary’s husband). When he quit his job in his mid 50s he started mowing (as he did when he was a boy).

In the interim it became much too exhausting for him to mow. We live on less than 60/100, almost the entire front of the house is paved, as well as one side of the house. So I would be out with him and when he got too exhausted I would insist on taking over.

He bought an electric one – figured it would lighter than the gas one. Problem was that he came much too close to running over the extension cord, so I had to walk on the side and hold same up so he did not.

Then came Covid. 2020 – had not gone to back of house and did not think about what was growing and needed mowing until too late to deal with – I said “it will die over the winter and we will start fresh next year”. 2021 – again forgot to look in back yard until too late and started looking to hire someone to deal with it for us. (His medical conditions and medications make him so that exertions wear him out too easily.) 2022 we managed to remember and hired someone to deal with the small amount of grass in backyard for us. Well, worth the money and, even better, after decades of being told that places which advertise snow removal are “commercial only” this fellow does residential snow removal also. No more my trying to deal with all the snow before he works on it and gets himself sick.

No, that’s good luck. Time to take a break.

I doubt a Plugger would ever own an electric mower… or EV. I sure won’t. We lived in 4 different homes over the past nearly 50 years, and now have an HOA that does all the outside yard work. They have only gas-powered mowers, trimmers, & leaf blowers. :)

If you really want the job done and done right, it takes ‘fossil fuel.’ If you want to live a life of pretend, then go electric. It won’t be long and those pre-pluggers will discover there isn’t enough electricity to go around. (Actually, that has already been proven but pre-pluggers are NEA educated and just like in those ‘school days,’ they still can’t be taught anything!)
