I don’t fear AI. It’s dumber than humans are. Capable, just stupid. It’s not at the level of the apocalypse doom-people are thinking. It’ll be lucky if it can hijack an empty vending machine…

My writing projects mean combing through online misinformation every day. For now ChatGPT and the others sugarcoat errors with authority and spew them with impunity. Eventually AI will prove a useful tool for communication, especially considering how poor language skills are for some (and I’m not talking ESL; American education is not what it once was). But garbage in, garbage out. For now.

Have you tried unplugging it?
