Jazz theory refers to a particular area of music that relates to the chord progression, scales, melodies, and rhythms primarily used in jazz music. It uses the same tools as more traditional music theory, but in extreme circumstances may be augmented with other traditional tools.

Trixie demonstrated to Weenus chord progression, scales, melodies, and rhythms with a high velocity wind tunnel fan.

But there are limits to the notes not played theory. Remember John Cage’s composition 4′33″ ? I’ll spare you my commentary on this piece, but, in my opinion, it was trifling attempt to make an unimportant point. Give me some notes and swing ’em.

Mr. Wiggly: 2nd panel, behind Trixie. Read B uttons remarks above for an explanation of Weenus’ appearance. I liked it.

The notes not played…that sums up Mark Knopfler’s unique style in his first two Dire Straits albums.

His later ones had the bigger hits but I liked the first two best overall.
